Fear of vacuum + Polish heritage = genius?

This week I was listening to an old NPR interview with Maurice Sendak.  He talks about, as a child, being horribly afraid of the vacuum cleaner.  When his parents used it, they always sent him to the neighbor's house.

So, Scarlett my dear, you aren't alone.  It's okay to be afraid of the vacuum.  And you clearly have what it takes to be as brilliant an adult as you are as a child.
