Scar-ism

I asked her which book she wanted to read with me on the porch:

"Whatever book has a Potter that is Harry"

Spring Break

Day 1:
7 mile bike ride with daddy, 3+ hour playdate with school friends at the indoor park, then crashed into a deep sleep

Day 2:
Roller skating, brewery lunch and library trip with daddy

Day 3:
Baking brownies and pizza with daddy

Day 4:
All-day playdate at a school friend's house, followed by all-night slumber party at Ramona's. It was a mom-daughter slumber party, which is the best kind.

Day 5:
Children's museum, going out for pizza lunch,  going to bed not as early as probably should have

Additionally, a zoo trip, hiking, haircut, lots of cousintime, Harry Potter book 2, and overtiredness.

I thought I was taking a picture of myself but, this ninja snuck in....

What it's like at Montessori School

This is Scar's leaf identification poster.  She knows more about leaves than I do.

And she's practicing keeping a journal of how she spends her time- starting with making a list of a few things about her day.  She writes it with the moveable alphabet letters, then copies it down onto a sheet of paper.  This one says "Today I did the thermic tablets with Rhys and seed collage and the stamp game", phonetically.

March, when you were six

I went to Scarlett's teacher's baby shower this weekend and came home with a whole slew of stories.  Did you know teacher Katie lived in a school bus when she was a baby?  (Yes, she already knew that).  Did you know teacher Katie later had floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with books? (She didn't know but, wasn't surprised)

We have a candle to light once Katie goes into labor.  Scarlett asked, what's happens in labor?  I told her about contractions and I was sortof using hand gestures to indicate a rising and falling belly.  She said, "it's like the baby getting a hug?"

Not really but, what a sweetheart she is.

We finished the Series of Unfortunate Events books this weekend- something we've been working on for months and months, and both of us are always so anxious to find out what's happening next.  Spoiler- the events are unfortunate and continue to be.  So then, we started Harry Potter.  I told her, I've been waiting pretty much your whole life to read Harry Potter with you.
