Hemispheres

Last week at school, Scarlett told us about this project she'd been working on, making a world map.  From what I can tell, the steps are:

  • Trace the continents
  • Cut them out (although, I think she said they 'poke' them out)
  • Write the names of each continent on white paper- this, she copied from a chart that had an online of each continent, and the name.
    • This is where she is in the picture below, proudly showing us her work during a parent-child open house.
  • The next steps is to glue these onto a picture of the earth.  Then I think she one day gets to bring the masterpiece home.

This week she used the word "hemispheres' to me in regular conversation.

Family karaoke

What happens at kid karaoke stays at kid karaoke.  But not really.  This is what happened:

  • Scarlett held a microphone and stared, murmuring the words only slightly
  • When she and I sang "together", she mostly buried her head in my shoulder
  • There were some Frozen songs (not as many as we thought)
  • Lots of dancing
  • Drinks, Chinese food, and karaoke = a good time for the kids and the grown-ups

Our Good Luck Charm

We took Scar to a couple Blazers games when she was tiny, but it's been almost 5 years.  This time around, she colored in a sign and wore her Blaze gear.  And even though we lost the sign about 5 minutes into the game, the Blazers won.  Scarlett ate candy.  Everyone was happy.
