Scar-ism

Cuddling with my sleepy girl:
Me: "My favorite thing in the world is being your mama."
Scarlett: "My favorite thing in the world is being taller than you."

Cousintime

Our nephew, Logan, came to visit from South Carolina because they are MOVING TO EUGENE which is exciting, and they need to house hunt (and have since FOUND AND MADE AN OFFER ON A HOUSE) so Scarlett and Logan got to have two slumber parties in her room and played together and shared and loved each other.  They have met only a small handful of times, but they were immediate friends.  Watching them together was priceless, and I cannot wait for Logan to move to the good coast so we can see him more often.

I wish I knew what they were both thinking in this picture...

Frogs Make Messes Sometimes

Croak ribbit croak ribbit croak ribbit croak
Frogs swim in the water
Frogs hop on land
Croak ribbit croak ribbit croak ribbit croak
Frogs drink tea
Frogs say juggarum everywhere

My little flower
my little frogger
my little frog loves me and you
and me and daddy

Easter in Portland

One upon a time on Easter, Scarlett didn't like me very much.  This year, we told her about that, and she said something to the effect of- I just wanted to hang out with daddy that day.  Then she said, "Can you go on a work trip soon, so dad and I can spend time just us two?"  [insert Charlie's heart melting]

This Easter we did more egg hunting and Charlie made a lot of pierogies.  The green dress Scarlett wore last year and loved, and asked to wear almost every day, is now too small.  I took a lot of egg hunting pictures but they were all just white and blurry.

Here is Scarlett's egg-hunting outfit.  Frog headband, frog backpack, mom's shirt worn as a dress.

And, the pierogis Charlie made this year for Easter dinner.

Scarlett and Uncle Shawn

"I like Uncle Shawn, he's nice."

(that's because he's never tackled her and tickled her until she started crying, like he did to me when I was that age.)

My favorite two

Actually, my favorite three, because Arnie is part of our family (she reminds me all the time)

Scar-isms: food edition

"Dad is a kidney bean. Mom is a garbanzo bean. I'm a frog who eats beans!"

"Life cereal is really sweet. It doesn't make you live longer or anything."

The Many Faces of Scarlett Ray

The purple shirt is mine, but she wears it so much better.

Two ballerinas

I remember taking tiny baby Scarlett to Hope's ballet recital when Hope was four, and Scarlett was a few months old.  It was raining but Scarlett was was fussy (she never liked being held by someone who was sitting still), so I had to walk around outside with her and missed some of it.  This week, Scarlett and Esther started ballet, the same age that Hope was, and this time there are no tiny babies but there was SO MUCH CUTENESS.  Smiles and joyful shouts and fancy skirts flying around.

Although, they are still babies even though they insist they're big girls, right?

At home, they wear tutus and fancy dresses at every possible moment anyway.

Scarlett liked dashing around with a scarf best.  Even though she didn't get both green scarves.
